Benicar is a medicine that doctors prescribe for people who have high blood pressure. Benicar is sometimes also used to treat heart failure and kidney disease
When the blood vessels are too narrow blood pressure can rise and this can be dangerous. High blood pressure – otherwise known as hypertension – needs to be treated and Benicar can be prescribed.
Your doctor will give clear details as to how to take Benicar and you could also schedule a consult with one of licensed pharmacists for questions. Benicar needs to be taken with food and may require regular follow up and checkups.
It normally begins with 20 mg once a day and if required can be raised to 40 mg after a couple of weeks. There seems to be no benefit to going above this level.
